Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
