As he approaches his half-decade plus one year at the helm, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that his continued role with the club is inextricably linked to winning major honors.
Reflecting on: From Appointment to Present
Arteta assumed control on the 20th of December in 2019 and soon guided the team to an cup win not long after. However, that early success is still his lone major honor since succeeding Unai Emery.
“I can,” Arteta responded in response to a query about staying beyond 2027. “However, it is about today. And many things have to happen in the near future as well to earn the right.”

The manager referenced the squad's displays as evidence of progress. “You look at the performances, all the historical marks we surpassed... We still haven’t managed to do that [win trophies]. But that tells you the caliber we've reached.”
He finished by saying, “It represents a quality that the Premier League has not seen before in the past. And our aim is to achieve even higher goals. And if we do that, I think we are on the correct trajectory to winning.”
