Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with performances like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
