Triple Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endures a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee when the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Heat.
The star player injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an inadvertent contact with team-mate Jones.
Jones came down on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately collapsed to the ground holding his leg.
The 30-year-old, that is leading the league this season in rebounds and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before suffering the injury.
Jokic will have an MRI scan on the following day to determine the severity of the issue.
"Immediately, he understood he was hurt," commented Nuggets head coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who is injured, it's tough to see, especially a player as special as he is. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust as a team. Obviously, at this moment, I'm focused about Jokic personally and the frustration of experiencing an event of that nature."
